Combiners are added during the Electrical BOS step but only if the Preferred Wiring Strategy indicates that a combiner will be used. Lets look at an example.
In this example we have 10 modules and an Enphase IQ8. By default, it does not utilize a combiner because it is a single string, however, users have the ability to add a combiner by doing the following:

Navigate to the Electrical BOS step.

Open the Preferred Wiring Strategy drop down menu (as shown in the image above).

Select a wiring strategy that includes "combine."

The dropdown menu will be closed and a new field will appear in the Properties Panel (area on the right) allowing you to select a combiner.
